Legend

Dave Grohl meets fans

Another reason why Dave Grohl is the 'nicest man in rock today'.

I could list many more but then this page would just become about Dave Grohl.

Also check out the video for the re-released single by Eagles of Death Metal, 'I Want You So Bad', which features a cameo by none other than Dave Grohl and Jack Black!

Here's a title. Its a good one.

Its been pretty quiet here, so not much to talk about.

Picked up the new Julia Thirteen EP this week. Its good. I have always liked their stuff and their gigs are good, and the EP (although only 4 tracks long) makes a good impression. Get it. Support a local Glasgow band.

Worked on some new designs this week. They will be going up on my site very soon. Looking into other ways to display my work. Keep it fresh.

Here's a photo to pass the time.

Shiny orange

Got a new phone the other day. A shiny new Sony Ericsson W810i. The walkman one. Its quite swanky.

Also, went to see 'The Break Up'. That one where Vince Vaughan and Jennifer Aniston got together on the set. It was good, some pretty funny one liners. Sometimes it got bogged down a bit in its own story and some of the argument scenes were pretty real, you almost felt uncomfortable as though it was two people you knew arguing in front of you.

Heres a quick photo from my new phone. Pretty much the same camera as my old phone.

Severance Movie

This possibly looks funnier than Shaun Of The Dead. And that was a funny film.

Radio

I have been listening to a lot of the radio lately. Mainly thanks to me driving around all evening delivery food to people to lazy to cook. So I have heard some really great music. Some names you should check out : The Needles, The View, Thom Yorke, Boy Kill Boy, Roddy Woomble and many more. But I heard one track on Exposure on XFM Scotland last night. It was so good. It has been floating around for a couple of years but is now getting some notice. Think that Baz Luhrmann track 'Free Sunscreen....', and then give him some crack and put a hip-hop beat behind it. Its called 'Underwear Goes Inside The Pants' by Lazy B off the album Lazy B TV. I dont care how you 'procure' this track, just get it and listen to it. Do it!

Boredom

Its a killer. I am so bored. I get up and do the same things day after day. The only good thing is when Im not working, and then 6pm comes around when Caroline finishes and we can do something. I really want a job. Any half-decent job. I have spent four years at uni thinking that this will help me get a decent job at the end of it. No. I should have just left in sixth year, joined some temp agency and worked my way up. Then I would probably be on some sort of path. Now, Im kinda freestyling it across the moorland. The path? What path? I didnt realise there was a path.

Weekend

Had a pretty good weekend. Out to the pub on Friday and away camping at Loch Lomond (including a 3 mile walk to the pub) on Saturday. Damn midges are a pain.

Not so much news on the job front. Applied to a couple today. No doubt I dont have enough experience. How can I get the experience if nobody gives a chance to gain any?

I like to ride my bicycle

I finally did some exercise today. Hurrah! I went for a ride about town. Quite a ride actually. On the way I managed to grab some photos of more street art, and some I hadnt seen before. There are some very creative minds in Glasgow.

Grrrrr

The Leopard is on its way. OSX Leopard

The new site is just about finished, all my work is in it, and now just some tidying up. So should go live today. If not, then tomorrow. This downtime has been good in a way as its made me do some work. But it also means I havent been for a run in about a week now.

Down time

After my shenanigans the other night we decided to walk home. Not such a good idea, considering I only wore a t-shirt and it was a little damp after the dancing. So after a 50 minute trek through the West End of Glasgow, two days later and I wake up feeling like shit. All achey, and a very sore throat.

It is now 2 days since that morning and Im just getting over it. Quite a quick turnaround for a cold I think. But I have taken major steps towards keeping healthy. Im taking loads of vitamins now plus cod liver oil all in one pill. Awesome. Im now having a proper meal before work too. I was worried I would get scurvy or something through lack of vegetables.

So a few days of downtime is good. But I hate not being able to do anything.

But now the new site is nearly done. Am I hyping this up too much? Jings.

What comes before Part B?

Part-a!! Party, Party, Party.

Last night was the Roddy Woomble (from Idlewild) gig at Oran Mor. It was very, very good. Despite my name not being put on the door (thanks Jim) we managed to get in and see some great acoustic music. An album very much worth checking out. He even played 'You Held The World In Your Arms', 'American English' and 'Goodbye' from Idlewilds albums. Lucky Rod was there to play guitar. Even though he plays on just about every track on Roddy's album.

And then Caroline had to go to work, but I went out with her sister and some of her friends. And a good time was had by all. Went for a few drinks in Ashton Lane (and having to put on a show for some drunken guy by pretending to be one of the other girls boyfriend, because he was trying to hit on her. Dude, the line, 'Your sexy' will not get you very far), then hop on the Underground and off to the Buff Club for some dancing. 2AM and we decide it would be a good idea to walk home. Saw a fox and tried to catch a photo but he ran away.

Good times.

2 Many

Its 2 Many DJ's madness here at Black Mint Design towers. I managed to procure the entire collection of 'As Heard On Radio Soulwax' by 2 Many DJ's, which is basically the two guys from Soulwax playing their favourite tracks mashed up. Even the highly acclaimed Part 2 with the remix of Kylie's Spinning Around. Awesome.

The site is starting to take form now, and more and more is coming together. Stay tuned.

Also ran 3 miles this morning! Bring it.

I'm famous

Well not really. Check it out. My site is featured on the daily news sidebar for Graphic Orgasm. Im Smoot apparantly. Im not too happy with the current site and the new design is taking shape nicely. Expect it soon.

Anyway here's a screenshot of the news sidebar!

More apocalyptic weather last night, so much so that the M8 at Charing Cross was closed due to a massive puddle. See the photo Here.

There was a massive puddle down Kelvinhaugh Way which I wanted to drive through and grab a photo of, but the light was fading fast and my timing was off, and I had to go deliver food. But I managed to grab this one. I am driving on the left hand side of the road and clipping the edge of it by a good bit. The waves I made were fun!

Also on the way home I saw this underpass lit up by blue lights so I grabbed a photo.

The end is nigh

It rained yesterday. No wait. It was a torrential downpour of apocalyptic proportions. The sky turned gray, the rain came down and the roads turned to rivers. How lucky I was that I got to drive around in it delivering food.

But then the skies cleared and the clouds parted to reveal a rather blue sky with whispy clouds floating on by.

In between dodging the pellets that was the rain I managed to grab a couple of photos of some cool street art that has been appearing around the West End.
