B*SH

I love to complain.

Greetings

Well, Merry Christmas one and all. I hope you have all had a good few days, eating, drinking and being merry. I know I sure did. Two christmas lunches and maybe one too many drinks!

As for presents, I got some killer gifts. A nice new compact HP Photosmart R817 digital camera. Its super nice. 5.1MP, 5x optical zoom, Pentax lens, very slick. Also I got the new Gorillaz book, MI:III, Foo Fighters DVD, Fratellis CD, few other great DVDs and other cool stuff. Hope Santa was good to you.

Onto more serious matters. Lost. I watched the mid-season cliffhanger and I am gobsmacked. The story has really taken a great twist, and the rest of the season will be super. Same goes for Prison Break. I dont get much time to watch the shows, so Ive cannon-balled 3 episodes of Lost and 4 episodes of Prison Break to catch up.

Have a look at the new Apple adverts here, they are, as always, great. You know Im not too bothered about what Microsoft do any more. I love my Mac and I doubt I will ever run PC again.

Im not ashamed to go on about this, but I hope you all got your Biffy Clyro single on xmas day. 79p. Bargain. If you can't find it, it's because the artist name is 'Semi-Mental'. Why? I dont know. But buy it. It rocks. As does the new Biffy site.

Last Christmas

Man, its been a while since I posted here. What with one thing and another I just forget. Christmas shopping, working, watching TV shows. Has anyone been watching Lost? Crikey. Its getting good again. And 24 starting in the new year. And Scrubs. Its too much to take in.

Work has been winding down, so much so that today I was reading Empire for about 3 hours, until I could leave. But now, no more work until the 3rd of January. How super.

Not much else been happening. Apart from the torrential weather which battered Scotland for about two weeks. That was fun to work in. But now the weather has done a u-turn and its strangely mild yet cold at the same time. I cant wait for some snow.

Look up Jimmy Eat World's 'Last Christmas' and get it. Its a very good tune. And remember and buy your Biffy single come xmas day.

Ill post some pics when I get a chance.

Get Along

What a weekend. The weather has been almost apocalyptic. At one point Dumbarton Road was flooded so much, that there was a puddle at least a foot deep spanning its width. And there was even hail with a little snow today.

Quite a good weekend though. Got our christmas tree, and decorated it. A little adventure through Clydebank on Saturday to find the B&Q on Great Western Road, from Dumbarton Road, but we got there and found a base for our real tree. It looks super. Yesterday we had a farewell lunch for a friend who is moving house. Only a few streets away, but any excuse for a drink.

Speaking of apocalyptic, Mel Gibson's new film Apocalypto has claimed the top spot in the US film charts for it's opening week. Check out the official site here, Im looking forward to when it arrives on these shores. Also Im going to see two new bike films at the GFT tomorrow. Kranked6 and NWD7. Very exciting.

I wish I could get a good graphic design job.

For some reason Mail has decided it doesnt want to get any more of my mail, so I need to view it through webmail. What a pain.

Remember to but the new Biffy Clyro single, 'Semi Mental' on xmas day. Only two weeks and then all the fun and games will be over. How exciting.

'Mon The Biffy

I went to see Biffy Clyro last night. It was awesome. It was in Perth which was a bit of a trek, but it was very worth it. The new stuff sounds amazing. The opened with 'Semi Mental', everyone should purchase this from iTunes on xmas day. The older stuff sounded great. They played 'Wave Upon Wave Upon Wave' which I like, 'Justboy', 'Glitter And Traume' and ended with 'There's No Such Thing As A Jaggy Snake'. Amazing live band.

Feeling a bit rough the last few days, so I hope Im not coming down with the cold or something. Work is as always, quite boring and just plodding along. We hope to get some new vans sometime soon, but Im not holding my breath.

Here's a rather cool photo of the Nissan Pathfinder.

Just Like You Imagined

Have you seen the trailer for the new film 300! It looks amazing. The adaptation of Frank Miller's graphic novel to the big screen, using the same green screen technology as Sin City. But this looks 10 times better. Check out the trailer here and the website here. The music in the trailer is Nine Inch Nails' 'Just Like You Imagined' if you were wondering.

Power Out

"I woke up with the power out,

not really something to shout about."

Something from the Arcade Fire to describe the situation we found ourselves in on Friday morning. I woke up and the power had gone out over night. So I wondered what time it was and whether I was late for work. Lucky for me, I seem to wake up at 7am now. I get home about 4pm and it all looks good, until about 5.30pm where the power went out again. Phone the power company and let them know. For the rest of the evening, its intermittent bursts of the power coming on then off again. So no heating or hot water. I went out for a pizza and sat eating that, having a drink, with the candles on until I went to the pub.

Thats about the highlight of the week really. Work was pretty busy this week, what with graduations. Its starting to annoy me, some of the stuff that goes on at work. I want a design job. But Im starting to worry now my mad skills are starting to become a little rusty.

Went to see Idlewild in Dundee on tuesday, and it was quite super. A horrible venue, which doubles up as a nasty club, but the songs were good, if a little fractured. There wasnt the usual flow, but then it is just a warm-up show. Some new songs which sound good, especially 'Ghost In The Arcade'. The usual suspects were brought out, 'A Modern Way Of Letting Go', 'Little Discourage' and my favourite, 'In Remote Part'. Rod really lets rip at the end.

Off to see Biffy Clyro on Wednesday in Perth. Not Kirkcaldy. Should be good to hear the new tracks live.

The new Cooper Temple Clause track sounds good. Go get it.
