Take Control

Im so pissed off right now. I get a phone call at about half three saying my car is in Maybole and the keys are somewhere outside Dumfries where the man who has them has broken down. Its a joke, it really is. Arnold Clark couldnt organise the left leg to go after their right. Im so annoyed.

In other news, here is a good article telling everyone how Microsoft has blatantly borrowed all of Apple's OSX ideas and included them in Vista. Imaginative.

Looking At My Watch

I think I have a curse on me. The car is still not ready. It will be at the garage at 7pm tonight, so I will get it tomorrow. Otherwise he says I can have a courtesy car. Im thinking of pinning him to the wall for extras, as this has been handled quite badly. I guess as long as I get it in the end. Sorted my week's free insurance. They gave me a quote of £900 for the policy! Are you kidding? Thats extortion, when I have quotes of £350 or so from other places. Well hopefully there will be a photo of my new car here tomorrow.

Kingdom Of Doom

I have been a little distracted lately, hence the lack of updates. But I am back now so hopefully I will try and keep this going more. Its good to talk.

Getting my new car tomorrow after much wrangling. The guy I was dealing was off ill, so was unable to chase the car up. Which the other motorstore had lost! Arnold Clark for you I guess. I thought they had changed but I suppose not. Unless you are buying a brand new car I dont think anywhere is really that great. But he says it's a good car, and he seems genuine so Im looking forward to taking posession. I have thursday and friday off this week as well, so we will get away somewhere in the new motor. Up north probably, so expect some scenic snow photos.

I havent been to the cinema in ages, and there is so much I want to see. Blood Diamond, Last King Of Scotland, Shootin' Aces are just a few. The Glasgow Film Festival starts next month so hopefully I can catch some of them.

The new Fall Out Boy track is stellar. The new Cooper Temple Clause track is stellar. The Good, The Bad and The Queen are stellar. Loads of good new music just now.

Nothing happening on the job front. I apply and apply but nothing. I have so much to give but no experience, so how am I supposed to get this experience and let my creative juices flow. Its frustrating. Especially when some people have design jobs who just fell into them without much effort. Anyway.

Will be back tomorrow, with a photo of new ride. Pimpin.

24

Have you been watching the new season of 24? It is truly amazing. Every season I wonder how they can top the last one, but they still can. The format is still working well, and Jack Bauer is now such an established character. He is the all-American hero. But at the end of the day it shows that he is just another tool in the governments arsenal. But what great TV. It doesnt get much better, and Ive only seen 2 episodes.

Was at a pretty good flat warming the other night. Took some drink, and then sampled everyone elses beer, so it was pretty good fun. Besides someone getting ridicoulously drunk, but thats the usual for a flat warming.

Was at the beach again today. Its great getting out and having a good walk with the dog on the dunes by the beach.

Hope to get my new car this week, I think it is on its way. I havent been kept in the loop as much as I would like but they are mitigating circumstances. Im sure it will all sort itself out soon enough.

Listen to Fall Out Boy's new single. Its great. You can see the video here. Gotta love youtube.

The Uisge Quiz Winners

What a day! Work is either breezy or a total pain. Today was a total pain. Snow, rain and incompetent co-workers. Anyway. Day is over, tomorrow is Friday and its all good.

Hang on, I need to rewind about 24 hours. Last night our team won the pub quiz! How cool is that! Thanks to a very high brow physicist joke (which only one person laughed at) we got an extra 3 points and latched onto the lead and came joint top. Thanks to none other than yours truly and his amazing rock impression of the Knight Rider theme tune I won our team some wine and beer. Unfortunately I lost at rock, paper, scissor so the second place team got a chance, won the battle, but bombed on trying to score 100 on the darts board. But a good haul none the less, and the adulation of the lower room at Uisge Beatha.

Applied for some design jobs, and even a position for a photographer. Nothing ventured. Hopefully something will come of it.

Some more good news. I am in the process of getting a new car. Well a 52 Toyota Corolla T2 3 door in silver. I havent seen it yet, but Im sure it will be ace. And if I dont like it, I can send it back and start again. But out of 12000 cars the man searched this is the only one that fit my criteria. Photos will follow, when I take posession.

Talking of photos, here are two from my trips around the Glasgow University campus.

Running Up That Hill

The iPhone is here, well here actually. But it looks very slick. All touch-sensitive, as our fingers are the best pointing device apparantly. I love how the graphics are the same as used in Dashboard. Very slick. And you get a build-in iPod along with a phone, you can email, it has an organiser. It really is quite amazing, and off course looks 'off-the-hook'! Well you can read all about in on the website.

Along with the iPhone comes the Apple TV, a box that syncs with your computer and allows you to watch all your movies and TV shows on your high-end plasma. Dont know how this will work with non-iTunes files, but its very affordable and looks super cool.

Keeping with my apple rant, this press release from apple announces that over 2 billion songs have been downloaded from iTunes. Making it the most popular download resource for music on the Internet. Period.

I was watching the series of The OC last night and it featured a really cool song by Placebo. A cover of Kate Bush's 'Running Up That Hill' which initially features on the second CD in Sleeping With Ghosts, but was released on some versions of 'Meds'. Anyway, its a stellar track, so try and have a listen if you can.

This is a photo of these new poster structures that have been popping up around Glasgow, most notably on Byers Road.

We were down at the beach the other day and look what was wedged into the sand!

To Do

Not much happening really. Back to work normal now, although looking at getting some time off to go to Switzerland maybe. Should be good fun. Really test out the new camera.

Speaking of my new camera, have a look at a gallery of photos from the Bracklinn Falls in Callander here.

I love the ease of use from Simple Viewer. It makes creating galleries so much easier, and it looks super cool!

2007

Well I guess a happy new year! Hope everyone had good holidays, and a great new year.

I laid low over the holidays, bar one evening where I got acquanted with half a bottle of Glenlivet whiskey. New Years Eve was a downpour, so we just stayed in. And the weather seems to be continuing to downpour. I think we are in for another rough few weeks of weather.

Back to work today, and its ok to be back. At least I am doing something. I was getting a bit of cabin fever.
