Welcome To Tally Hall

A band you must check out is Tally Hall. Just wonderful music. I first heard them on The OC of all programs. They covered The Killers Smile Like You Mean It, really mellow and relaxed. And the rest of the stuff is good too.

What is with work. I need a job I like. What really annoys me is people who dont do their job, blame other people and dont take responsibility for their mistakes. It annoys me. I hope I get this freelance work, and hear back about design jobs.

Mark Ronson is your new favourite person. DJ and producer hailing from England but now based in NYC, his remixes are quite superb. He remixed Radiohead's Just last year with the singer from Phantom Planet. Now he has a new album dropping in April. Check his myspace. Stop Me is great. And so is Toxic!

This is one of the best headlines I have seen in a while. Troublemaking! Tut Tut children.

All good

Its been a while since I posted here but I have been a bit busy. Some freelance work, and actual work, and trying to catch up with everyone. You may think it doesnt take much to take five minutes to write some crap about me, but I just forget about it.

Anyway, work has been steady, just plodding along. Hoping for some response from some applications, and doing some freelance work which I wil hopefully get.

Been keeping a low profile the last few months in the ABC especially. Just been going to the Uisge most of the time. Had a good evening the other week. Just me and Telfer having one or two.

Managed to grab a game of tennis yesterday which was good. Still play quite well. We are getting better though. I even rode to the courts, and walked to work, so didnt use my car at all. Unfortunately it looks like the apocalypse is upon us today with the excessive amount of rain we have receieved, so I had to drive today.

The car is going well. Its super to drive, and so roomy.

Anyway, will report more often with some good news hopefully. Out!

Weekend In The City

Well not for me really. I was finally away biking on Saturday. Loaded up the car and headed to Glentress. And it was amazing. I always forget how good fun biking is. The weather was spot on, just warm enough and loads of sun. The trails were very busy but thats alright, loads of people to say 'Hi' to. Did two runs on the Berminator which is most fun. Then followed the red trail back down. The usual route which is a lot of fun. Not any photos of riding, because your riding too much to think to stop to grab a photo!

Some tennis on sunday morning. Im still quite good even though i havent played for a while. Then went to see Hot Fuzz on sunday evening. It isnt Shaun Of The Dead but its a different type of film. Very funny and it was pretty good. I would recommend going to see it. Simon Pegg is very good. He was on Top Gear last night as well.

Im going to say now that I think Bloc Party's new album Weekend In The City is going to be the most important album of 2007. Ive heard a few tracks from it and its very good. Intricate and relevant. Very politically charged. The live shows should be good.

Hopefully some freelance work is heading my way!

No Emotion

I actually went for a run yesterday. The first one in quite a while. Im not sure how far I went, over a mile I think, and ran for about 9 minutes. Not a great feat, but its a start. Hopefully some biking on Saturday down at Glentress but the weather has turned a little today so Im not so sure.

Anyway, check this site out. Part of the wiki group its Wikitravel! How awesome.

Videos

Here are a couple of new music that you just have to see. One band from Glasgow and one from Edinburgh.

Here is the new video for Saturday Superhouse from Biffy Clyro.

Here is the new video for No Emotion from Idlewild.

Dreams And Bridges

Aereogramme last night was really good. Better than I thought it would be. The Classic Grand on Jamaica Street is a really nice venue, like a mini Carling Academy. You can just imagine the tables with the little light shades on them all pointed towards the stage with a jazz band playing. But it was Aereogramme who took the stage to a packed out venue. But first we had to endure the grindcore metal that is Take A Worm For A Walk Week. They were ... interesting. Very angry music. With baited breath the boys came on stage and started with Barriers, their single from the new album. And it just got better. A stellar performance of A Life Worth Living made the night stand out, but my personal highlight was Nightmares and Post Tour (the last track of the evening). It was a very good gig.

Barriers

One week ago I last posted here. Its been a while. A rather unevenful week. Enjoyed driving my car to work. Its still going great, its a lovely car to drive. Im a lot more relaxed behind the wheel. Its a mature car. Just working throughout the week. Managed to watch latest episodes of 24 and Scrubs. 24 is getting so good. Scrubs is fading a little, lucky its the last season. Spent a quiet weekend not doing much. Watched the unconvincing win over Wales in the rugby. But I did go and see The Last King Of Scotland on Saturday evening. What an amazing film. It really deserves all the Baftas it won. British cinema on top form. Forrest Whitaker plays Idi Amin very well, always on the edge of exploding. A rather gruesome ending but very powerful. Off to see Aereogramme this evening at the Classic Grand. Will report on that tomorrow.

Hideaway

What a fun packed few days. I finally got my car on Wednesday evening. And then headed up towards Fort William on Thursday. The car is great to drive, nice and smooth, and pretty nippy. The trip computer is great, it calculates your current mpg, your average mpg and your average speed. Interesting. I also filled the tank up. £42. But at 45mpg I should get nearly 500 miles out of it. So all is going well. The break was really good. Got down to the beach on a wonderful day. It was warm and so, so sunny. Oscar loves going to beach, although he did try and swim to Arran. I thought we may lose him, but he is a labrador and they can take care of themselves in the water. Here is a photo from the beach before my camera died.

February Stars

Happy February. Where has January gone?

Anyway, I finally have my new car! A nice Toyota Corolla T2. This transaction was not meant to go smoothly. I got the call on Wednesday to say the car is ready, so I take my paperwork down and get the ball rolling. But I realise that I have left the last MOT certificate in the flat. Oh good god. He lets me take the car away, and I say I will bring it back down that evening. Half way up the road I realise there is no tax disc. I spend about a half hour talking to the nice security guard Bob waiting to hear from the guy about whether I can just take my documents which were lying in his desk. I can, so I now have all the paperwork. Today, we go for a drive up Loch Lomond shores, but on the way back we hear a scraping noise! Oh no. It seems that a plastic cover under the engine bay wasnt screwed in and has come loose. I manage to wedge it in, and take it back. The mechanic sorts it out, and hopefully everything is sorted now. Its a nice ride. Solid permormer. The engine is a little rattly, but thats just the VVT-I. So Im looking forward to many miles of good motoring. Heres a pic!
