Revolution 909

Wow. Its been a while since I last wrote here. Quite a bit has been happening. I have been running quite a bit lately in training for the 10k on June 3 at Strathclyde Country Park. Decided to hit 10k last weekend and did it in 54 minutes which is pretty good. So we are aiming for a sub 45 minute time. My mate Telfer is doing a marathon soon and my training pales in comparison to 20 mile trainiing runs!

Still looking for work. Hopefully my freelance work should be wrapped up soon and be out on the walls around Glasgow soon. Look out for it.

As for the website. Well I did do a mock-up of a Flash version but I didnt like it at the end, so there is a temporary site up just now. Check it here.

Been listening to the new Linkin Park album non stop. Its so good. You need to check it out. The new FFAF album is not bad. Takes a few listens. Your new favourite band apparantly is Battles. Very good live. Make your own mind up dammit. Very Scottish band The Twilight Sad are very good. Check them out. Their myspace is here. But you need to hear the whole album as a whole to appreciate it fully.

Hopefully going up to the Cairngorms a week on Saturday for a 2-day 90km bike ride. Bring it.

Minutes To Midnight

Its been a busy little week lately. Playing quite a bit of tennis when the weather is. My game is coming on very well. My serve is starting to be a bit more on target and my baseline volleys are just dandy. Its all good. Training is going OK. Missed a few runs, but was playing tennis for over an hour instead. Going for the 10k in under 3 weeks though, so need to get my act together. Hopefully doing some bike touring up in the Cairngorms this weekend if the weather holds out. Aviemore to Blair Atholl through Glen Luig. Camp overnight, unless we get space in the bothy. But its going to be a good weekend. Cant wait.

Been listening to NIN, Year Zero and now Linkin Park's Minutes To Midnight. A good album, maybe not as good as Meteora, but a nice album. Its very up and down, one song is rocky the next mellow. Only one real hip-hop tune for Shinoda this time, but thats ok. If you want to hear Shinoda do his thang take a look at Fort Minor.

The new site is just about ready to go live. Its Flash, so beware. But quite slick. Its got a lot more artwork in it this time, over 20 pieces. Jings. It will be up soon. I promise.

Happy Birthday Helvetica

Some BBC News linkage today. Well 2 pieces anyway.

What is up with this?! Why should she get off with a jail term because she is 'famous'. I use the term loosely because I dont think being an heiress should be anything to write home about. But she broke the law, twice, and is now bitching because she is getting 45 days in the clink. She is complaining that she is being made scapegoat to highlight drink driving because she is well-known. For the exact same reason she wants to be let off. Well no. I hope Arnie tells her where she can shove her petition and adds on another 45 days for being such a tool.

An interesting article on the wonderful font Helvetica is here.

Tales Dont Tell Themselves

Everything You See Is Fake. Some very cool video editing.

Read the bit about the concept album here for FFAF's new album. Sounds very good. Same thing goes for Nine Inch Nails' album Year Zero which Trent Reznor claimed was " the soundtrack to a movie that doesn't exist". In fact you should just read all about the hype surrounding the album here.

Wikipedia is the best.

Bit of a good weekend. The long May Day weekend. Went out on Sunday evening for the first time in a while. Hit Uisge, then the Variety Bar, a nice bar which we should go to more often, then onto the Cathouse! I know. Wasnt my idea, but we followed the crowd. Some headbanging and dancing later we were bored of thrash metal so we hit up the Buff Club. Some Junk (Jazzy Funk) later and it was 4am and Im walking home in the rain eating chips. Good night then.

Im getting worse at tennis. I cant seem to get a hold of my game like I did last year. Hopefully playing more will bring it up again.

Anyway, PO and hope the sun comes back soon.

P.S. Its someones birthday today!

Beginning Of The End

Well it looks like the SNP will be in the most prominent position in the Scottish parliament. Too bad. But I really dont think that its a good thing, they will want to pish for an independent referendum soon. Good or bad, I cant say just yet. But what a balls up with the voting system. How can so many people get it wrong. Its not difficult! Something like over 100,000 votes were marked as invalid. That could of made a lot of difference. It will be interesting to see who buddies up with who over the next few days as they try to figure out a coalitio government in Scotland.

Open Your Eyes

No not the latest offering from Snow Patrol. Pah. But from the debut album by the under-rated Germans Guano Apes. This was their first single after being found through a local talent contest. I listened to the song again today and forgot how much I liked Guano Apes. I got Dodel Up when their second album was released in 2000, and was a fan. Then I managed to get their 2003 album on the cheap in Virgin and was a fan. The have such energy and rock harder than many supposed rock bands. I wont name names. Too bad that they have now split up, but thats probably best before they start to spew forth radio friendly bathwater. Anyway, check them out!

Today Scotland goes to the polls. What for? I dont know. SNP is bad apparantly. And it is. They want to stop taking money from Westminster so that each Scot will then need to cough up £5000 to fill the defecit. Maybe its OK to vote Labour this time. I wont tell anybody. Im not sure what good it will do anyway. Whoever gets in power will continue to make promises they dont keep and continue to dissapoint the general public.

Anyway, here are some photos to keep you entertained.
