Scar Tissue

Im reading Scar Tissue right now, the autobiography by Anthony Kiedis of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Its pretty crazy some of the stuff he has done. I wont go into it all here, read the book for yourself. Its pretty thick but is very easy to read, and you cant put it down.

Played tennis this morning down in Kilmarnock, and had a really good game. I feel my game is improving slightly over time. I just need to play more. Hit those balls.

I watched the first episode of Season 13 of ER today. Crikey. Its going to be another top season. Is ER the longest running series? I dont know. 13 seasons is a pretty long time. I wont spoil it for you, either grab it off the Internet or wait till it hits E4.

Voodoo Hoodoo

Its good to step away from the monitor for a few days and reconnect with the world. Not that Im in some bubble the rest of the time, but for the past few days I have just been going out and having fun.

For example we had an ok night at the Art School on Thursday, but the music is way too random and some of the folk way too prententious. Plus it was freshers week and the place was like a cattle market. Off to the pub on Friday night and found a poster detailing some Scottish tartan the most hilarious thing....ever. Its not really, but I was drunk. Then an absolute blast at the ABC on Saturday. Some fine, fine tunes such as Prodigy - Voodoo People and Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit only helped to make an excellent night out. There was a price for all this fun, missed a free screening of Oliver Stone's new flick World Trade Centre on the Sunday. Bummer.

As for the days, spent a nice hour or so on the beach Friday just enjoying the sun, it was very warm. And then back at the house I had a wander in the field with the dogs, and got some good photos. I wish we had a dog.

Some more music for everyone to check out. If you like Alkaline Trio you will enjoy Heavens, Matt Skiba's side project. Patent Pending is a stellar tune. Also get Switches - We Laid Down The Law and The Blood Arm - Suspicious Character. If you listen to Zane Lowe or Xfm in the evening you will know these tracks.

Enjoy some photos

You're Speaking My Language

Its been a while for an update so here it is.

Praise the lord, US televison shows have started up again. Prison Break season 2 is getting off to a good start. CSI:NY, Lost, 24, Scrubs, Desperate Housewives are all coming back soon. So that should keep me entertained. I have recently been catching up on The Sopranos and am now hooked. How did I miss that one?

I finally got a tennis racquet, a bargain with 70% off. Its a Dunlop Classic 27. Nice. But its better than the crap they have at the courts. We had the worst conditions to play in the other day. If we were to serve who knows where the wind would carry the ball. Or which side of the billowing net it landed on. Comedy. Also I appear to have done something to my foot, pulled a muscle or something as it constantly sore. Maybe its the shoes I wear.

It was party night on Saturday and had a wee dance at the ABC. Some good tunes and good company resulted in a stellar evening, even after a shift at work.

Currently listening to Juliette & The Licks. Great rock and roll.

Glasgow has received a battering the last few days catching the tail end of some hurricane. Some pretty poor weather, great fun dashing from the car to the door of the flat Im delivering to.

Onto some more street art. This guy, Paul Curtis (aka Moose) is producing some very cool artwork, along with actualling cleaning dirt off walls to create art. The local council are baffled and dont know what to do. Excellent.

And after I delivered to another one of Glasgow's fine adult 'health clubs' I noticed some very high quality grafiti by a building site.

4am Forever

What a week. Had a mammoth game of tennis on Wednesday. I mean 4 hours worth. Came back from 2-0 down to 2-2 but then threw away the final game. But I had a little training session with my 'coach' before hand, and picked up a few pointers. BASELINE!

Last night I was working at the West End division of DiMaggios and whilst waiting in between deliveries I was allowed to stay in their staff 'room'. What a treat. The floor had turned a lovely shade of crap, and along with the sparse lightbulb and rickety old stools made the place look like something out of Hostel. I was lucky to get out alive.

I also went to see Crank yesterday. It has Jason 'The Transporter' Statham proving he is the UK's best export for trashy action flicks. It was quite insane and ludicrous but good fun to watch, especially the bit where the car rolls over inside the mall and lands onto the escalator and starts to go up. Amazing.

Still no word back from any of my applications for employment. Its harsh times. Just got to keep going at it. But with all this spare time I have signed up for free trials with DVD rental companies and have worked my way through season 2 of the Sopranos. Its such a good series, I dont know how I missed this US export for so long.

Oh yeah, almost forgot. I have updated my portfolio on my website, and used some fancy Java scripting to show the images. Check it.

Anyway, here is the biggest potato I have ever seen!

McEnroe

Its all about the tennis. A little late in the season but we are really getting into it. I am a little short-tempered though. I throw my racket about and swear quite a bit. Oops. My serve is coming along ok, although I keep hitting the net and lose lots of points due to double faults.

Its been quite a bizarre heatwave these past few days, quite pleasing.

Still no sign of Biffy, the huge spider that is on the rampage in our bedroom. So far he has evaded capture.

RIP Steve Irwin. We salute you. And because I have a sick sense of humour, here is a short reconstruction of what happened.

Deuce

Went and had an amazing game of tennis yesterday morning. It was great. Unfortunately for me, I lost 8-6, but not after an amazing comeback from 3-0 down. Playing again tomorrow morning so I can try and bring it back to 1-1. Its suprising how tired you get, I was a little sore when I woke up today. Im so unfit.

A hilarious little animated video mixed with live footage I stumbled upon.

Was told about a book called the Darwin Awards, and found the website. It details the most peculiar deaths from people all across the world. Some people are truly stupid.

Currently listening to Jeff Buckley's album 'Grace'. Zane Lowe says its one album everyone should listen to. Its good. Very good.

Ive been away

Was away down south for a wedding this past weekend. It was good to get away though. We made it down pretty quick. The 200 odd miles in about 3 hours, but on the way back it was just slow going over the A66, so I was late for work. Which I should really of got covered as I was knackered afetr driving for so long. If train tickets and car rental were a lot cheaper then I think more people would choose that option. But to do that we would have been about £70 each for a return on the train and then about £30 for car hire. And one thing I noticed on the Virgin Trains booking system is that it could be cheaper to buy two singles than a return. How stupid is that?

The Arctic Monkeys winning the Mercury Music Award? Eh? If you see the shortlist for this year then there is much more deserving artists, and much better albums. The Editors, Muse and The Guillemots, but I think Thom Yorke should have won it. His solo album is just amazing. All the Arctic Monkeys did was record some rehashed two-bit guitar pop, post it on myspace and get lucky. Its the hype-machine at work again.

Anyway, some stuff for you to check out :

Gypsy Cab - Harnessing the power of the Mac!
