Evening Rain

I have the cold. Or flu. Just somehting which has flattened me. I hate being sick. Bleurgh. The only half decent thing is that you can laze about and watch DVD's all day, and drink hot orange juice.

Its been a really quick week with nothing really happening. Just work really. Graduations are starting so its getting a bit busy now. But work is still so rubbish. I cant wait to get something else. Doing some more freelance work which is always good.

It really has been a quiet week. Not even any decent music or anything to share really. Well actually, one of my favourite artists Rob Chiu has a new trailer up. Check it here. Devoid Of Yesterday. Looks good.

Something You Want But Cannot Have

Was at the last ever Aereogramme gig last night at the QMU. Maybe not the best venue for sound quality, but very cosy, so a good atmosphere. One thing I should say first is that I have found my new favourite band. 'We Are The Physics' are the most energetic band I have seen in a long time. They are just so amazing. You must see them live, but you can hear their tunes here. But Aereogramme really stood out. Playing a decent set they mixed it up, and then came on for an encore of greatest hits, 'What Hits?' says the frontman. On the whole the night was a good one. After the gig a few of us headed back for some tunes at a mates flat. I spent a rough night on a sofa but thems the breaks.

An amazing trailer for a new snowboard film. View it here. From Darcy Wittenburg who brought you The Collective and Roam mountain bike films. Looks slick.

An End Has A Start

I was at the Glasgow School Of Art Degree Show last night. Some of the stuff is very good. In the Product Design Engineering, someone had designed an innovative hydraulic gear shifter, which was quite rudimentary but could be slimmed down with some work. I feel that this may be a little dated though, what with the introduction of integrated gearboxes now becoming more and more common. A lot of the work was very good though. Some of the fine art work was good, but I wondered what the point was. And for a years work they didnt have much to show!

The Editors have a new album track up on their myspace page. Listen to it here. Its called 'An End Has A Start'. A new track will be going up next Monday as well.

Off to see Aereogramme for the last time tonight, at the QMU. Should be a good gig. Sucioperro, We Are The Physics and TerraDiablo are supporting. Go down and mourn the loss of one of Glasgow's finest bands.

Welcome To The Future

I went to Oran Mor last night to see The Twilight Sad. Your new favourite band. It was a very special gig. The first band was a small Irish foursome called Kowalski. Good tunes, and very tight. One to look out for. Then there was Endor. Not very impressed really, got a bit boring. But then came The Twilight Sad. If you havent heard their music, they are very Scottish. Think My Vitriol granduer with some slurred Highland singing. The moment they took the stage it was a wall of sound, feedback and shouty voices. They flowed from one track to another like they had been doing this all their lives. The red and blue lights focused over the smoke gave the stage an even more grand presence. This is a band to look out for. You can listen to them here.

A busy weekend ahead. I am going to the Art School Degree Show tonight to see Caroline sister's work, and everybody elses. There is also a street party on as well, so should be good fun. Then on Saturday is the last ever Aereogramme gig. Its at the QMU so try and get tickets to see the mighty Aereogramme for the last time. Probably.

More Rock 'N Roll

One thing you should not do is try to ride your mountain bike up the Lairig Ghru and then down Glen Tilt. It is one of the most horrific rides than you can attempt. You leave Aviemore and trek onwards and upwards. You are basically hiking with your bike and a 35 pound rucksack on your back. Over the pass and you need to negotiate boulders the size of dinner tables and lots of scree. Then a stop start ride down past the bothy and onto Glen Dee. Attempt to cross a 30 foot wide river and continue down a long forgotten land rover track. We camped overnight by the White Bridge and then rode/walked the rest of the way down Glen Tilt. Finally we reach some sort of civilization at Forest Lodge and its land rover tracks all the way to Blair Atholl. A very tiring experience. But some very scenic views. You can see my photos of this expedition here.

I might be moving to London soon. Will know more in July.

Biffy Clyro's album Puzzle is very good. You should most definately check it out. They are playing again at the end of the year.

Love Is A Diameter

Was at the Biffy Clyro gig at the Barrowlands last night. What a gig. Aereogramme supported them on their farewell tour. They were so good, managing to turn a support slot into what could easily have been the main event. But a mere 30 minutes later and Biffy took to the stage with a subdued but also very upbeat set. Opening with 57 and the crowd erupted. Other highlights were Questions And Answers, Saturday Superhouse, Love Is A Diameter, Whos Got A Match. But they whole place were right behind them and the atmosphere was electric. A very, very good gig. After that we moved onto a club. Ended up dancing away at the Buff Club, and called it a night around 1 am. A very good evening!
